I LOVE TO TRAVEL! So, when I “discovered cruising, I finally found the perfect form of vacationing. I could pack my big suitcase and did not need to worry about finding activities or locating food each day. What more could you ask for??? My most adventurous cruise was an eight-day cruise, spanning across 4 islands. First up, Grand Turk!!!
GRAND TURK, is a small island in the Eastern Caribbean and the capital of the Turks and Caicos Islands. We took a tour to explore the 7-mile island for around $30 per person. While riding along in our tour bus, we listened to island calypso music. The beautiful island breeze brushed against our cheeks and the open design of the bus allowed us to see all the beauty of the small, vibrant island.
Our tour route included Senator John Glenn’s Capsule, a stop in the local village, and a visit the Grand Turk Museum Gift Shop before arriving at the Grand Turk Lighthouse.
After our visit to the lighthouse, we saw a few salt ponds while our tour guide told historic stories and highlighted the small island’s growth. The best discussion by far was our tour guide explaining how the donkeys and other large animal roamed free in the streets and were available for purchase.
We ended our tour back at the port, which is only a few feet away from delicious local cuisine and the sandy white beaches that lead to beautiful crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Grand Turk was a great start to our vacation. Next up, Puerto Rico!!!
PUERTO RICO, is an unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the North Eastern Caribbean. Puerto Rico is the smallest island of the Greater Antilles, spanning a length of 100 miles.
During our time in Puerto Rico, we took a tour of the island for the bargain price of $5 per person! We toured City Hall and saw the Castillo San Felipe del Morro along the tour route. Our tour of Puerto Rico was filled with historical buildings and historical sights. We ate some great local cuisine and did some retail therapy.
Puerto Rico is a beautiful tourist destination, I look forward to traveling back for an extended stay in the near future. On to St. Kitts!!!
ST. KITTS, is a 65-mile island located in the West Indies. The island of St. Kitts was beyond beautiful and the local food was some of the best I have ever had.
Our tour of St. Kitts was around $30 per person but the experience was worth much more. We drove up the winding mountain roads to see beautiful homes perched within the mountains. Then we traveled back down the lush rolling hills to a gorgeous beach. The tour also included Romney Manor with its beautiful gardens. The vibrant colors were amazing! And the best place of all was Timothy Hill Overlook, where we could see the point in which the ocean meets the sea.
St. Kitts was one of the most beautiful islands we’ve traveled to and definitely a place that we will revisit. Last but not least, onward to St. Maarten!!!
ST. MAARTEN is a 37-mile island shared by two nations, with 37 beaches. The North side of the island is governed by the French and the South by the Dutch.
While in St. Maarten we commissioned a private tour which included water and rum punch. We were able to customize our tour so that we could cover all of the great highlights of the island. Our tour included a stop at a large market where we purchased souvenirs and ate the best fried fish EVER. We also stopped at a local restaurant to indulge in some local favorites. We then traveled from the French side of the island to the Dutch side and ended our tour at a beautiful beach.
The shoreline was covered with resturaunts and vendors selling almost anything that you could think of. Like St. Kitts, St. Maarten was absolutely beautiful and a great vacation destination.
Our eight-day cruise was one of the best experiences to date. If you searching for the best bang for your buck, I recommend you take a cruise. Cruises are the perfect balance of vacation and the comfort of home.
